the gallery of everything
The Gallery of All Things is the gallery space in the Ramat Eliyahu Art Workshop devoted to the display of artworks and objects outside of the field of art. The world of content of this space, the first to be inaugurated in the Workshop, is inspired by the “cabinets of curiosities” of the Renaissance and the 18th and 19th centuries. Situated in noblemen’s homes, the collections of items from various spheres (such as scientific finds, nature, archaeology and more) were designed to reflect the collector’s dominance. Another source of inspiration is Outsider Art, created by people who never studied art formally. The title “Gallery of All Things” refers to London’s Museum of Everything, which displays works by amateur artists. The space invites collaborations and dialogue with contemporary artists together with local artists resident in Rishon Lezion who studied art and are active outside of the “inner circle of the Israeli ‘art scene’.”
